Ben and Katy
Ben Coy and Katy Jacobs met at Love-O-Rama 2006. Katy was there to
support her friends on the Junior Board, and Ben was playing in the
pit for Valentine Victorious. It was a crowded party and Katy spent
all night on the dance floor. Ben couldn't bring himself to face the
"gaggle" (his words) of girls she was with in order to say hello.
But, in a (relatively) quiet moment at the bar, they made brief introductions. He was a grad student at Northwestern, studying trombone, who did freelance web work on the side. She was a marketing assistant at Lookingglass Theatre Company, and was doing the marketing for a friend's storefront production on the side. As the fates would have it, she needed a website built.
A website meeting turned into a dinner date, which turned into a movie night, then another dinner date (Ben likes dinner). On April 25, 2007 Ben asked Katy to marry him and she said yes. On November 3, 2007 they were married.
"Something was definitely in the air that night at Love-O-Rama," says Ben. "I knew I would see her again." Katy knew it was something special too, and vowed not to let such a tall one get away (she's 5'10", he's 6'4"). They advise those looking for love at Love-O-Rama to mingle. "You never know who's waiting for the chance to meet you."
